Unknown Newspaper, Ohio
May 1927

Nancy Jane, eldest child of James and Louisa Pratt, was born in Virginia, September 12, 1854, and departed this life at her home in Plumwood, Ohio, May 7, 1927, aged 72 years, 7 months and 23 days.

In the year of 1872 she was united in marriage to James Reed, who entered into the Great Beyond October 1, 1911. To this union were born nine children, one having died in infancy.

The earlier part of her life was spent in Fayette and VanWert Counties and the latter part in Madison County. Since the death of her husband sixteen years ago, she and her son, Walter, have made their home together. Nancy as she was commonly called by everyone, was a faithful wife and loving mother, and was always willing and ready to help one and all until her health failed. She had been in failing health for some time but her death was a shock to the community as she had attended to her household duties in the evening, but about nine o'clock suffered a sudden attack from which she survived only a short time.

She is survived by three daughters and five sons, Mrs. Ida Norris of London; Mrs. Belle Monnett, of Plumwood; Mrs. Estella Sterling of Middleport; Walter, at home; Edward of Plumwood; William, of Delphos; Charles, of Galloway; and Frank, of near Mechanicsburg. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wibright of Plumwood, and Miss Sue Pratt of Washington Court House; two brothers, James W. Pratt of Plumwood, and John Pratt of Sabina; 38 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held on Monday, May 9th, at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Plumwood, conducted by Reverand Weed, of Lafayette and her body laid to rest in Plumwood Cemetery by the side of her husband.
