Sarah Bone DILLON (wife of William Ward DILLION and grandmother of Marty Allen) told Ivory Elsie DILLON (mother of Marty Allen) that she thought William came to Raleigh County, West Virginia from
Columbus, Ohio. William Ward DILLON (son of William Preston DILLON) told Sarah Bone DILLON he was born in Columbus, Ohio. It is thought that William simply left Arminta and children without a word.
It is also thought that William never divorced Arminta. Arminta and children never knew where William went Source: Marty Allen [0273].
(My thoughts for the move back to Raleigh County, West Virginia, United States and then the disappearance of William are that while William, Arminta and children lived in Columbus, Ohio, United
States, William met Mary Ellen Sheperd somehow and began having an affair. Most likely stress was happening to the marraige of William and Arminta and she desired to move back to West Virginia to be
close to her family. William fully agreed knowing he would simply return to Mary. This might also explain why he legally changed his surname from DILLION to DILLON and why he and Mary did not marry
until 12 years after their first child was born.)
