Charles H. Campbell of Gallia County Ohio
By Rita Bogard June 11, 2013 at 09:47:03

I am looking for information on Charles H. Campbel, b. 1821 in Virginia. He married Irena Prose in July 1840 in Gallia Couunty, Ohio.

I am looking for proof of who his parents were.My mother worked on this line several years ago and someone gave her information that said his father was Samuel Campbell Jr. and his mother was Elenor Wadell.I have discovered a transcription of a Chancery Record from October 1842, Elisha Campbell vs. James Graham & Others involving the estate of Samuel Sr.Samuel Jr. died prior to Samuel Sr. so the document lists Samuel Jr.'s children, but no mention is made of Charles H.There is also no mention of wife of Samuel Jr.

Can anyone help me with Charles' parents.I feel like we are headed down the wrong road with Samuel.

Thanks for your help
Rita

Rita,

I think that Carol is on the right track.I don’t know if Charles H. Campbell’s father is James or George W. but I have recently completed a DNA analysis and feel very strongly that Charles’s father came from the Amherst Virginia area.

My evidence for this claim is:
1. It has been document that some Campbells from Amherst Co., VA have migrated to Gallai County, OH.
2. The Prose surname is also associated with these Campbells
3. The DNA of Charles H is a strong match for several related Amherst County lines.

Please contact me off list and I will provide you my analysis
