Hi Thomas,

According to the records we have, your Samuel W. is the brother of Sarah Arminta DILLION [b. Feb 20, 1837-d. Feb 20, 1916 Mercer County, West Virginia, United States] married Henry SHRADER.

The info we have is that the parents of Polly RINEHART were George & Hannah [SIBERT] RINEHART. There is a handwritten will for George RINEHART [loose papers in a box] that lists his 2nd wife Patsy [she was a NUCKLES] & two of his sons, Hugh T. & John N. This is in Tazewell County, Virginia, United States. Also in Tazewell County, there is a land transaction to Samuel DILLION from James DILLION & his wife Martha, April 26, 1824, for 150 acres. The Tazewell County marriage records, BOOK 1, Page 44, has the handwritten info of James Porter A E for the marriage of Samuel DILLION & Polly Rinehart March 29th 1818.

The wife of James DILLION was Martha BELCHER. Samuel, son of James & Martha, had a brother Jesse DILLION who married Cynthia PERDUE. This is also Bill's line. Jesse DILLION comes in on Bill's mother's line & Samuel DILLION comes in on his father's line.

In looking through our archives of census info I found the following info [in case you don't have it].
1860 Mercer County, Virginia, United States; 20 June 1860; Page 2; Princeton.
9/8: DILLION, Samuel W., 30, b.Virginia; Tempa W., 25, b.Virginia; Louisa, 7; Mary M., 5; Octavia, 3; Malinda, 5/12. Since he died during the war & she left, that is probably why we don't have them in the 1870 census.

Since Samuel W. probably went in the Cenfederate Army in Virginia, you might try writing to the Adjunctant [spelling?] General of Virginia to see if you can get a service record of any kind on him.

Don't know if we've helped you any or not. Let us know how things go.
Cousins,

Bill & Barb Kelley in St. Petersburg, FL
