WILLIAM H. SINK is a native of Franklin County, Va., a son of Stephen and Lydia (DILLION) Sink, and was born May 26, 1840. Stephen Sink was also born in Franklin County; was a farmer and died in 1882, aged seventy-two years. He was a son of Henry Sink; who was born and reared in Virginia, of German origin; was a farmer, and married a Miss Snider. Mrs. Lydia (DILLION) Sink was born and reared in Franklin County, and was a daughter of William and Mary (Clyburn) DILLION. William H. Sink was reared on a farm, and in 1859 immigrated to Barren County, Ky., where he worked for $10 per month. In the fall of 1861 he enlisted for a year in Company C, Sixth Confederate Regiment, and participated in the battles of Shiloh, Vicksburg and Baton Rouge; after his discharge he returned home and immediately engaged in farming. One year later he went West, and for three years engaged in mining in California, Oregon and Idaho. In the fall of 1866 he returned to Barren County, and engaged in farming, which he has since followed with success. He located where he now resides in January, 1871, on 150 acres, which he has improved; he now owns 250 acres, one-half under cultivation, and which he has acquired by his industry and perseverance. He was united in marriage March 3, 1870, with Margaret Amanda Serona Victoria Smith, of Barren County, a daughter of Isaac and Mary E. (Hunt) Smith, who were born, respectively, in North Carolina and Frankfort, Ky. Mr. Sink and wife are members of the Christian Church, and had born to them four children - one now living, Mary Lelia Sink. In politics Mr. Sink is a Democrat.
