December 1926

Again the grim reaper, Death, has a entered our family circle and has taken another loved one.

Jerry Carey was born October 19, 1894, and departed this life at the Gallipolis Hospital, December 25, 1926, aged 32 years, two months and six days. He was the son of Ella Carey, of London.

Jerry, as he was familiarly known to everybody, was loved by all who knew him. He was of a kind and loving disposition, and always had a kind word for everyone. He was a great sufferer from epilepsy since childhood, which caused his death. He bore his sufferings patiently, and all was done that loving hands could do to relieve him. But God's will be done, not ours. He called him home to His mansion, where sorrow and tears never enter. His work is now done, and he has entered into rest.

He leaves to mourn his loss one sister, Mrs. Forrest Watts, and his brother-in-law, Forrest Watts, of London, one daughter, Josephine Carey, of Akron, and a large circle of relatives and friends. His mother preceded him in death one year and nine months, also one sister and one brother.

Sleep on, dear brother, thy work is done,
Those faithful hands need toil no more;
Three sad days have passed away,
We hope to meet you some sweet day.
The depths of sorrow we cannot tell,
In the loss of one we loved so well;
And while he lies in peaceful sleep,
His memory we shall always keep.
Remember, friends, as you pass by,
As you are now, so once was I;
As I am now, so you will be,
Prepare for death, and follow me.
