Willis Hayes Wibright was born January 15, 1848, and died March 30, 1906, aged 50 years 3 months and 15 days. He was the son of John and Evelin Wibright, being one of five children - two brothers and two sisters surviving: John living in Newport; William, of Huntsville; Elizabeth Bethards, Summerford; Mary E. Henline, Plumwood.

Our subject was married to Elmeda Pratt, November 22, 1877, to which union three children were born: Jessie, wife of Wilbur Murray; Frank and Harry, still living at home. The mother of these children died September 20, 1896. He kept his children all with him, doing a father's part and all he could to make up for the loss of a kind and loving mother. After his daughter was married, he too was married to Josie Shepherd, who, with their only little daughter, Blanche, are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving parent.

"Dick," by which name he was known to all, was a kind and loving father, a benevolent neighbor and a good citizen, never lacking in any of those qualities which induce a man to adhere strictly to the principles of the golden rule. He was a good bible student, making it always his source of comfort in lonely hours. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He had been afflicted for about a year, gradually growing weaker until death came to his relief. Through all of his suffering he was ever hopeful, ever cheerful, planning for the future, never giving up in despair.

"A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which can never be filled.

God, in His Wisdom has recalled
The boon his love had given;
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in Heaven."

Card of Thanks:

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to friends and neighbors for their many kindnesses and their help to all of us during the illness and death of our beloved one.
