John M. Fridley, age 74, of South Webster, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center, Portsmouth, Ohio.

He was born January 3, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Ted and Evelyn (Seymour) Fridley. John retired from Nationwide Insurance in 1999. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed the outdoors, riding his four wheeler and being with his family and friends. His second loves were auto racing and football. John loved to laugh and lived his life to the fullest. He thoroughly enjoyed entertaining friends and family at his farm.

Left behind is a loving family including his wife of 30 years, Phyllis (Schreck) Fridley; two sons, Todd (Tammy) Fridley and Kevin (Tracy) Fridley; two sisters, Mary Bricker and Shirley Mumford; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as many friends who will miss him dearly.

John was a member of the South Webster Community Church and an EMT with the South Webster Fire Dept.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at the South Webster Community Church, 36 Carmichael Street, South Webster, Ohio 45682. The family will also receive friends Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main Street (Route 161 W.), Plain City, where the Celebration of John's Life will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Merit Smith with the burial to follow at the Forest Grove Cemetery, Plain City.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the South Webster Fire Deptartment, P.O. Box 509, South Webster, Ohio 45682.
