(June 16, 1930 - April 1, 2013) Catherine J. "Lena" Schaner, 82, of Unionville center died Monday morning, April 1st, at Heartland. She was retired from Ranco Aft.er 27 years. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plain City and a member of the VFW Post #3268 Women's Auxiliary. She loved bingo, bowling, camping with her husband, the tractor pulls in Bowling Green, and the Paul Bunyon Festival in Nelsonville. A very social person, nothing gave her greater joy then spending time with her family and attending her grandkids ballgames. Lena was born June 16, 1930 in San Antonio, TX to the late Pablo and Damiana Conteras Hernandez. She was married February 28, 1949 in Scottville, MI to Richard S. Schaner Sr. who preceded her in death May 21, 2002. She was also preceded by a son-in-law Dale Peterman; brothers, Benito, Pablo, Jesse, Danny, Andrew, & George Hernandez; and sisters, Bermaldina Valero, Filomenia Mendiola. She is survived by her children Bernadette Peterman of Hilliard and her special friend Jim Woolum, Richard S. (Debra) Schaner Jr. of Marysville, Joseph C. (Lynn) Schaner of Mechanicsburg, Robert P. (Angela) Schaner, Theresa M. (Jim) Weese, Karl A. Schaner all of Unionville center, Mary C. Headlee of Lakeview and her special friend Dick Pyles; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a sister Chena Alaniz of Lincoln Park, MI; brothers Joe Hernandez of San Antonio, TX, Greg Hernandez of Ludington, MI. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 pm Friday at the Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, OH, 43040. A mass of Christian burial will be held 1 pm Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plain City with the Rev. Patrick Toner officiating. Burial will follow at Unionville center Cemetery. Pall bearers will be her grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to the Darby Monument Committee in care of the funeral home. |
