Beckley Post-Herald, Beckley, West Virginia September 18, 1947 88-Year-Old Harper Woman Dies; Rites Will Be Tomorrow Mrs. Victoria Alice Harper, 88, Harper, died yesterday at 11:00 a.m. in a local hospital after an extended illness. The body will be removed from the Calfee Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Friday to the family cemetery at Sand Lick where funeral services will be held at the grave at 2:00 p.m., by the Reverend Alfred Lester, of Harper. Mrs. Harper had been a resident of Harper for the past 78 years. She was born in Floyd County, Virginia, September 20, 1858, the daughter of the Jefferson and Nancy Young Vaughn. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, P. E. Brickey of Oregon and J. B. Harper of Harper; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Hutchinson, Beckley; Mrs. E. A. Quesenberry, East Beckley, and Mrs. Beulah Newman, Harper, and 35 grandchildren. |
