Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Yakima, Washington March 8, 2017 Clarabelle Dillion lived to be just shy of her 95th birthday. Born March 23, 1922 in Newport Ohio, she died as peacefully as she lived, surrounded by family and her pastor, and met her Heavenly father on March 7, 2017. She was always a tower of strength and grace for her family and friends. With few words she taught us how to live with dignity and respect. She was a consummate listener. She always looked for the best in others. She worked hard most of her life and was always helping someone else. She was concerned about you rather than herself, even in her declining years of health. Clarabelle nicknamed "Clippie" by many of her friends, loved to dance, play euchre and do Crosstitch. She was a voracious reader and wrote beautiful poetry. She was an active member, teacher and bookkeeper at the Plumwood United Methodist church for over 75 years. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing Christian songs. She was on the township board in Madison County, Ohio as an elected official for over 20 years. She won every race she ever ran by a landslide. She worked hard and was always a respected leader in whatever endeavor she encountered. No matter whether it was her church, family or her vocation, she was the go to person to get things done to organize and orchestrate and she did it without fanfare. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her Ohio State Buckeyes. Clarabelle was raised in a small farm community in Madison County, Ohio born to Harley and Mabel McAdam with an older brother and two younger sisters; she learned the power of hard work and teamwork. She married Glenn, "Johnny" Dillion shortly after graduating from high school. She traveled with her husband during World War II as he served in the Army Air Corps. Her only child, Janice Allene (Dillion) Luring was born three years later. Clarabelle owned and managed a general store in a small village called Resaca for almost 20 years. She was the heart and soul of this little village. after 30 years of marriage, Johnny passed away at the age of 53. Clarabelle then took a job as the financial manager for a fertilizer plant in London Ohio. Two years later, she married Melvin "Tuck" Dillion, a brother to Johnny. She believed it was God's plan for her, as it was biblical. after "Tuck's" death, she moved to Yakima to be near her daughter and family. She loved to travel with her daughter Jan and husband Greg. She treasured her family and although Ohio is home she adopted Yakima into her heart and all those in it. She loved watching her family grow and being part of all the wonder that Jan and Greg shared with her. She never knew a stranger and always remembered those she met. She is predeceased by her parents Harley and Mabel McAdam, husbands, Glenn "Johnny" Dillion and Melvin E. "Tuck" Dillion, Brother, Pearl McAdam, Sisters Jane Ryan and Alice Lewis. Living are her daughter, Jan Luring (Greg), granddaughters, Kimberly Luring, and Megan Bewley (J.D.) and their son Caden. Her step-son Melvin "Buster" Dillion (MaryEllen), step grandchildren, Keri (Don )Smith, Kelly (Brian) Brauneck, great-grandchildren Sam and Mary Claire. Step-daughter Sally (David) Slonaker, step grandchildren, Wendi (Terry) Shumway, and Adam (Jessica) Koch, Bruce (Cheri) Dillion, great-grandchildren, Kara (Phillip) Wiggins, Kirsten (Brandon) Witt and sons Liam and Landon and great- granddaughter Alexis. Clarabelle loved sharing her life with the staff and residents at Living Care Retirement Community who were all her friends. We also couldn't have done without her longtime caregivers, Sharon Firestone, Janet Hostetler and Rocio Diaz, Dr. Gabriel Lascar, his staff and Heartlinks Hospice. We would also like to express our deep appreciation for the McDonald's of Yakima team. It is important to thank all of the hundreds of friends perhaps thousands for the many years of loving friendship in the London, Plain City, Resaca and Marysville communities. You all shared your time and lives with Clarabelle for which we know she is eternally grateful. A Memorial service in Yakima, Washington will be held in Meyer Auditorium at Living Care Retirement Community, 3801 Summitview Avenue on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Calling hours hosted by the Luring family at Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral Home in London, Ohio will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m. A committal service will follow at Plumwood Cemetery.
