Robert Wayne May, 81, of Mechanicsburg went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 26, 1940, in Mechanicsburg, Ohio to Grover and Nancy (Carter) May. Bob was a 1959 graduate of Jonathan Alder High School where he participated in basketball and football. He was a member of Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship and a retiree from Navistar. He volunteered for 10 years at Mercy Memorial Hospital in the Well Child Clinic where he accepted sweets as his pay. He was a 4-H adviser for several years and loved coaching his daughter's softball teams. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and great grandfather and cherished friend. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, march in the band, raise livestock and just simply growing up and travelled many miles in support of their activities. He was an avid Buckeye fan and would assist with coaching from his recliner.

He is survived by his wife, Carole (Bennett) May of 48 years; his two sons, Jeffrey (Carol) May of West Mansfield and Barry May of Urbana; two step-children, Kelly (Chris) Barnett of Sparta, and John (Betsy) Bennett of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren, Kylee (Jeremy Smith), Ryan (Rachel) Barnett, Lexis, Brock and Linzie Bennett, Eddie Brunson; five great-grandchildren; Velma Cordial of Canal Winchester; sister-in-law, Janet (Hershell) Burkes; brother-in-law, William (Doris) Jones; and many nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Cleveland May; three sisters, Janet Dillion, Dorethea May and Barbara Dillion.

Bob's family would like to thank Loving Care Hospice of Marysville, with special thanks to Mark Miller, and thanks to family and friends for all their kindness and support.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in the Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Mark Ryan officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship, 4401 Allison Road, Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044 or to the Loving Care Hospice, 779 London Avenue, Marysville, Ohio 43040.
