Barbara L. Smyers age 79 of Marysville went home to be with Jesus, on Saturday, October 16, 2021 while surrounded by her husband and loving family. Her husband, Richard L. Smyers, age 80 of Marysville joined her in Jesus' arms on Monday, October 18, 2021. Barbara and Richard were high school sweethearts that were devoted to each other and their love for the Lord for 61 years and refused to be separated.

Both graduated from Reynoldsburg High School, Barbara graduated in 1960 and Richard in 1959. They were married September 3, 1960 in Monroe, Michigan. Richard entered Ohio Wesleyan and then seminary school at the Methodist Theological School where he received his Masters of Divinity. Richard served in the United Methodist Church, West Ohio Conference for 56 years. Barbara served alongside her husband while working as an Office Administrator until she retired from Ashland Chemical Company in 2002.

Barbara and Richard are preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Beatrice (Kibbee) Strawser; his father, Harland R. Smyers; his step-father, James M. Shimp; her sister, Ruth Strawser; his brother, John R. Smyers; his sister Patricia (Hans) Hansmann; grandson, Chase M. Sharrett.

They are survived by their devoted children, Christine (Glenn) Dillion, Cheri Smyers, Harland (Janel) Smyers, Carmen (fiance Will Hoffine) Smyers; grandchildren, Travis (Stacey) Dillion, Brittnee (Tucker) Barlow, Adam (Tory) Smyers, Matthew Smyers, Caitlyn (fiance, Lloyd Thompson) Sharrett, Lance Corporal Nickolas (Sierra) Carter, Hunter Carter, Samuel Smyers; 7 great-grandchildren; Richard's mother, Viola (Good) Smyers Shimp; Barbara's siblings, Richard "Dick" (Liliane) Strawser, Connie (Ray) Gilpin; Richard's siblings, William (Mary) Smyers, Shirley (Jim) Wears; Richard's step-brother, J. Robert Shimp; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins including, Betty (Tom) Sauls.

2 Corinthians 4:14

"Knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you."

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
