Individual Data Ferguson Funeral Home, Plain City, Ohio January 14, 2023 Carl Russell Phillips, age 72, of Galloway passed away Friday morning, January 13, 2023 at his residence from a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 9, 1951 in Plain City, Ohio. 1969 Jonathan Alder High School graduate. Carl was a SP4 US Army Veteran during the Vietnam conflict as a meteorologist for the HHB Artillery Division stationed in Ft. Carson, Colorado. He worked for Glenn Hochstetler with Hochstetler Buildings and John Hostetler with Baker Lumber which included drawings and blueprints for the building projects. Avid reader and patron of ALL libraries. He was an extremely talented artist, painter, and sketcher specializing in pencil and ink drawings. Devoted husband, father and grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Russell and Leora (Keaton) Phillips; step-mother, Louella Young Phillips; brothers, Clayton M. Phillips - 1996, and Charles L. Phillips - 2020; step-brothers, Jerry Young, and Darrel Young; step-sister, Janice Parker. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Kathy D. (Lapp) Phillips; children: Michael Scott (Jin Chen) Phillips and Alissa Erin (Joel Hammers) Phillips; granddaughter: Hailey Phillips; step-brother: Harold (Robin) Young; step-sister: Patsy (Cecil) Johnson. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Ferguson Funeral Home, Plain City and where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from Noon-1:00 p.m. Pastor Dan Hammers officiating. Burial Forest Grove Cemetery with Miliary Honors presented by Union County Honor Guard.
